ONE EARTH ONE CHANCE: CLIMATE EDUCATION FOR CITIZENS WHO WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

If you’ve felt yourself drifting—half-informed, overwhelmed, or unsure what to believe about climate change—you’re not alone. This About Me page is here to tell you why One Earth One Chance exists, what it’s for, and how you can use it right now.

One Earth One Chance is an educational reference hub for individual citizens who want to raise their climate consciousness, so they can take wiser action and help others do the same.

What to do first (so you don’t get lost)

This site is built as a reference library. The best way to use it is to start with the topics that match your questions and concerns, then follow the links outward as your understanding deepens.

A simple way to begin:

  1. Go to the homepage and browse the main topics.
  2. Open the pages that match what you’re seeing in your community or in the news.
  3. Use the site as a learning path: read, reflect, and then share the most useful pages with others.

Why I built One Earth One Chance

I built One Earth One Chance in response to something that made the climate crisis impossible for me to treat as “a future problem.”

Two years ago, my daughter almost died in the Lahaina fire in Hawaii—nearly burned alive. That kind of moment changes you. It turns headlines into reality. And it forced a question I couldn’t set down: if this is where we are now, what happens as conditions intensify—and what are everyday citizens doing about it?

What I saw around me wasn’t only disagreement. It was drift. People going numb. People sensing danger but avoiding the depth of it. People unsure of the real dynamics—what’s driving what, what’s accelerating, and what’s already here.

One Earth One Chance is my response: a living, evolving climate education hub built to help people wake up, see clearly, and become more effective—without needing a gatekeeper.

Why trust this resource

I’m not asking you to trust a slogan. I’m inviting you to evaluate the work.

A few concrete markers:

  • Scale and reach: One Earth One Chance includes 800+ hand-built pages, read in 150+ countries, with over 1,000,000 pageviews per year (and growing).
  • Long-form education work: I’ve produced 500+ educational videos; one has reached approximately 1,000,000 views on YouTube.
  • Decades of civic/educational involvement: I’ve spent 40+ years as a volunteer with the Foundation for Global Community (Palo Alto), worked with Beyond War, co-founded Global Mindshift, and helped create educational experiences like the Identity Seminar with Don and Virginia Fitton.

Why a website (and why it matters)

The climate story changes fast. A book is static. This is not.

As a webmaster, I can build and update pages as events unfold, add new research and explanations, and connect dots across disciplines. I also publish timely updates through features like Cool Planet News and my blog—because education spreads when it’s current, clear, and shareable.

My approach: “new eyes,” grounded in real information

My goal isn’t to scare you or to perform outrage. It’s to help you see with “new eyes”: to understand the patterns and drivers of climate change clearly enough that denial and drift become harder to maintain.

If you learn the dynamics, you don’t just “have an opinion.” You become a climate leader in the most practical sense: someone who can explain what’s happening, point others to credible resources, and help your community respond intelligently.

The simplest thing you can do: share

If this site helps you, please share it. Everything hinges on sharing.

Suggested share text (copy, personalize, and send):

“I’ve been using One Earth One Chance as a climate education reference library. It’s a deep, well-organized resource for understanding what’s happening and what we can do. Here’s the link: https://www.oneearthonechance.com/”

Assumptions I made (verify/change as needed)

  • The homepage is the primary page you want shared.
  • Your key site stats are accurate as written: 800+ pages, 150+ countries, 1,000,000+ annual pageviews, 500+ videos, one ~1,000,000-view video.
  • You want “drifting” and “wake up” language included as a central theme.

Welcome to the Future: One Earth One Chance
